Diphenhydramine treats itching, sneezing, stuffiness,
coughing, and other symptoms associated with allergies, bug bites and
stings, and other causes in cats and dogs. Along with its antihistamine
properties, this product has a sedative effect that helps calm anxious
pets and can function as a sleep aid. Diphenhydramine also has antiemetic
action and helps remedy motion sickness.

Directions:
- Give cats and dogs 0.2 to 5 mg per pound of body
weight every 8 to 12 hours as recommended by your veterinarian.
- Do not mix or dissolve the slow-release capsules
in with food.
Frequency of Use:
Typical usage consists of administration 3 to 4 times
per day.

Diphenhydramine blocks the effects of histamine in
the body. Histamine is involved in the body's immune response to irritants
such as allergens and bug bites and stings. Diphenhydramine is FDA-approved
for use in cats and dogs externally only; however, oral tablets and
capsules are commonly recommended by veterinarians for cats and dogs.
Diphenhydramine Active Ingredient
(per tablet or capsule): diphenhydramine 25 mg or 50
mg
Warnings:
Keep Diphenhydramine out of reach of children and
animals. Do not use or store in or near open flame or heat.
Diphenhydramine is intended for use in cats and dogs.
Do not give to other species or humans.
CAUTION: Do not concurrently give pets
a cold, sinus, or other medication containing diphenhydramine.
Not for use in pregnant or nursing animals.
Not for use in any animal with hypertension, a urinary
obstruction, glaucoma, or prostate disease.
Use with caution when given in conjunction with other
central nervous system depressants.
Tell your veterinarian what other medications or
supplements your pet takes. Always consult prior to administering any
other drug or supplement to a pet taking Diphenhydramine.
Do not use in an animal with an allergy to diphenhydramine
or other antihistamines. Seek emergency veterinary care for an allergic
reaction.
Side effects may include decreased urinary output,
drowsiness, dry mouth, and, rarely, diarrhea or vomiting.
An overdose requires immediate veterinary treatment.
An overdose may cause extreme drowsiness, seizures, coma, respiratory
depression, and death.
