Thyro-Tabs are intended for use only
in dogs with hypothyroidism. Do not administer to other animals or to
any dog that does not have a prescription. Not for use in humans.
Do not permit children to handle or
administer Thyro-Tabs.
Read all package directions and precautionary
statements before use.
The following directions represent
a typical usage. Dosages are adjusted according to T-4 level blood test
results, usually once per month. Administer in accordance with your
veterinarian's prescription.
Directions:
- Administer 1.0-2.0 mg levothyroxine
per 10 lbs. of body weight as an initial dose.
- Give the dose 1-2 times
per day, as instructed by your veterinarian.
- Continue to administer the
maintenance dose--usually 1.0 mg per 10 lbs. of body weight daily--as
instructed by your veterinarian.
- Hand-feed the caplets to
your dog directly, or add them to food if necessary.
- Watch to ensure the dose
is consumed.
Frequency of Use:
Initial administration is usually made
once or twice per day. Maintenance doses are usually made once per day.
Use as prescribed by your veterinarian.
Give a missed dose as soon as you remember
it, unless it is nearly time for the next dose; do not give a double
dose or two doses in close proximity.
Storage:
Keep out of reach of children and animals.
Store Thyro-Tabs in their original
container at controlled room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F.
Protect from light, moisture, and heat.
It is a violation of Federal Law
to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.
Thyro-Tabs (L-thyroxine)
All dosages of Thyro-Tabs are sold
in packages of 120 and 1,000 caplets. Dosages are 1.0 mg levothyroxine,
2.0 mg levothyroxine, 3.0 mg levothyroxine, 4.0 mg levothyroxine, 5.0
mg levothyroxine, 6.0 mg levothyroxine, 7.0 mg levothyroxine, and 8.0
levothyroxine.

Warnings:
Keep this product out of reach of children
and animals. Do not use or store in or near open flame or heat.
Thyro-Tabs are only for dogs with thyroid
hormone insufficiency. Do not use in other animals. Not for humans.
Do not give this product to any dog for which it was not prescribed.
Use as prescribed by your veterinarian.
Do not give this medication in larger amounts or for a longer or shorter
duration than prescribed.
CAUTION: Not for use in dogs
with acute myocardial infarction, thyrotoxicosis, or untreated adrenal
insufficiency. This product may be contraindicated in some dogs that
are pregnant or that have euthyroidism or hypertension.
The safety of this product in pregnant
or breeding dogs has not been established. Some evidence suggests use
of this product in pregnant bitches can affect thyroid development in
unborn pups.
Thyro-Tabs are not known to cause side
effects when used as prescribed. If you suspect an adverse reaction,
talk to your veterinarian. If you know of or suspect an overdose, seek
emergency veterinary care. Signs may include excessive thirst or hunger,
increased urination, reduced tolerance for heat, hyperactivity, and
personality changes.
Thyro-Tabs caplets of 0.1 mg and 0.7
mg contain FD&C Yellow #5 (tartrazine). This ingredient is associated
with allergic-type reactions (including bronchial asthma) in humans.
It is not known whether such reactions may occur in dogs.
Check with your veterinarian before
putting your dog on any additional supplements or medications.
